The BoulderRoute outdoor guide grows with what climbers contribute: areas, sectors, boulders and routes added by the people who climb there, checked by moderation before they go live.
Your name stays
Every area, boulder or route you add carries your name. Whoever comes next knows who to thank.
Open to everyone
Browsing the guide is free, no subscription. Information about the rock stays with climbers.
Respectful of places
Access notes and rules for every area come first, and sensitive locations are only shown to signed-in climbers.

- What is BoulderRoute?
- BoulderRoute is a free climbing web app, born in Italy. It brings together a community-written outdoor guide to crags, boulders and routes, the problems climbers create on partner gym walls, a personal logbook of sends and the grades proposed by those who climb them. For gyms it also offers management tools for memberships, check-in and members.
- Is BoulderRoute free?
- Yes. For climbers BoulderRoute is free, today and in the future: profile, logbook, problems and the outdoor guide have no fees or subscriptions. The project is funded by the gyms that use the management tools.
- Can I add a crag or a route?
- Yes. With a free account you can propose areas, sectors, boulders and walls with their routes. Moderation reviews every proposal before it is published, and your name stays on the contribution.
- How is it different from 27crags, theCrag or Vertical-Life?
- They are solid tools, and many climbers use them. BoulderRoute was born in Italy with a specific idea: gym and rock in the same app, with an outdoor guide written by the community and free to browse. Gyms that adopt it also get the management tools, so climbers and staff use the same product.
- Does it work at my gym?
- If your gym runs BoulderRoute it is highlighted on the map, and you can create and climb problems on its walls. If it isn't there yet, the outdoor guide works anyway, and you can ask at the desk: we want to reach gyms because their climbers ask for it.
- Do I need to download an app?
- No. BoulderRoute opens in the browser and can be added to the home screen on Android and iPhone: it launches full screen like an app, no app store needed.
