Your account

You need an account to create content, log sends and join a gym. You are responsible for your credentials and for what happens through your account.

You can ask for deletion at any time from the profile section. How that works in detail is described in the privacy notice.

Content you publish

The problems, beta, photos and topos you upload remain yours. By publishing them you allow us to show them to other users of the service, which is the reason you are publishing them.

Gym problems are approved by staff before becoming public. Outdoor guide content is moderated before it appears.

Do not upload content you do not hold the rights to, offensive material, or other people’s personal data. Content breaking these rules may be removed.

Safety: read this part

Climbing carries a risk of serious injury and death. Nothing in this app reduces that risk and nothing replaces your own judgement.

Grades, lines drawn on photos, start and finish indications and beta are other users’ opinions. They can be wrong, out of date, or refer to a wall that has since been reset. A problem approved by a gym’s staff is not thereby a guarantee of safety.

In the outdoor guide, the presence of a line says nothing about rock quality, the landing, access conditions, or whether climbing is permitted there. Always check in person and respect closures and seasonal restrictions.

You decide whether and how to climb, with what protection and with what supervision.

Sensitive crags and blocks

Some outdoor areas are subject to access restrictions or environmental protection. For these, the app deliberately reduces the precision of the coordinates it shows.

Do not work around this, and do not publish the exact locations of areas flagged as sensitive elsewhere.

Your relationship with the gym

Joining a gym, your subscription, its price, access to the premises and the medical certificate concern a relationship between you and that gym. BoulderRoute provides the tool through which the data is handed over and managed, but is not a party to that contract.

Complaints about a subscription, an entry, or data the gym holds should be addressed to the gym.

For gyms

A gym using the back-office is responsible for its members’ data, for moderation decisions on its own walls, and for the conduct of its staff.

At present the service fee is not collected through the app: it is agreed and invoiced separately.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as is. We may change, suspend or discontinue it, and we may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

If these terms change materially, the change will be noted on this page.

Liability and governing law

BoulderRoute is in a validation phase ahead of opening the service, and is not yet incorporated as a legal entity.

Limitations of liability, governing law and jurisdiction will be stated here, together with the identity of whoever provides the service, before the service opens to the public.
